Together with Fraunhofer ISI and the Greenwerk, NewClimate Institute analysed how energy efficiency policies can contribute to limit temperature increase and thereby lower costs of the overall efforts. The project gathered information on existing energy efficiency policies and their impact and assessed how future development of these areas can decrease emissions in the long run. NewClimate Institute was responsible for gathering and analysing available scenarios with strong energy efficiency measures, which lead to emission trajectories in line with keeping temperature increase below 2°C. This input then served a more detailed analysis on costs and necessary actions to achieve these pathways. The geographical focus of the project was USA, China, EU, Mexico, India and Brazil.
